Isla Fisher has admitted she’s a big fan of the Royal Family – and even once had a correspondence with Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana.
The Aussie star, who is married to British actor Sacha Baron Cohen, says she received a surprise letter from the Princess after sending her some drawings.
‘I was a huge Diana fan,’ says Isla, 37.
‘I drew pictures of her with the Queen and sent them to her when I was six. She actually wrote back thanking me for “my wonderful drawings”.
‘My friend Naomi [Watts] is playing her in a movie, which I can’t wait to see.’
Isla admits she had a bit of an unorthodox upbringing.
‘I wasn’t raised with any discipline at all,’ the mum-of-two tells You Magazine.
‘Mum let us throw massive parties in the house when we were teenagers. Her argument was, “If you’re going to get up to mischief, it’s far better to be doing it under my roof”.
‘She would lock herself away so that she didn’t have to listen to us while we drank Victoria Bitter!’

‘I put on 10lbs… by eating cupcakes!’ Isla Fisher admits she used her ‘natural instincts’ to gain weight for Great Gatsby role
It’s a situation actresses wish for – to be told they need to gain weight for a movie role.
So when Isla Fisher was given free reign to pile on the pounds to play Myrtle in The Great Gatsby, she made sure she did so by chowing down on her most desired sweet treat – cupcakes.
Isla admitted to Easy Living magazine that gaining the 10lbs she needed to for the role was easier than she thought it would be.
She said: ‘I was breastfeeding, so I had a little flesh of my own, I am proud to admit, but I also gained 10lb, just by following my natural instincts.’
Asked what she meant by that, Isla replied: ‘Cupcakes!’
Isla promotes “Now You See Me” at CinemaCon
A couple of weeks ago Isla travelled to Las Vegas for Now You See Me press duties at the annual CinemaCon event. CinemaCon is an event for studios to promote their upcoming releases to movie theatres, and Isla and her Now You See Me co-star Morgan Freeman were on hand to introduce the trailer for their film. Isla visits Seaworld
Hello fans! It’s been a busy month, so I’ve missed a few Isla bits here and there and will work to catch them up now. To start with, Isla paid a visit to SeaWorld in San Diego earlier this month, and posed for the cameras with a beautiful beluga whale. Isla Fisher takes her kids for a taste of the Arctic – in California
Former Home and Away star Isla Fisher has already swapped Summer Bay for Hollywood, and earlier this week she also took her two daughters to get a taste of the Arctic at San Diego’s Sea World.
The actress took five-year-old Olive and two-year-old Elula to the attraction’s Wild Arctic display on Tuesday to see animals native to both the North and South Poles.
Among them were endangered Humboldt penguins and a beluga whale named Nanuq, who cheekily planted a kiss on the 37-year-old star as she posed for a picture beside his pool during her VIP behind-the-scenes tour.
New trailer and poster for “The Great Gatsby”
A new cast poster for The Great Gatsby was released yesterday, and today has also brought us a 3rd trailer for the film! This trailer feels a bit different to the previous two, and tells us a bit more about the story and relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. There is a very brief new shot of Isla in it, along with the previous spoilery footage. Watch the trailer below, and find HD screencaptures from it in the Gallery.
The Hollywood premiere for the film will be held on May 8th. Premieres in Sydney and Cannes will follow, and I’m sure there will be more too.

As well as Fashion magazine, Isla can also be seen on the cover of California Style magazine this month! She looks sparkly in blue on the cover of their April issue, and the photos inside are simple yet colourful and pretty. It’s so exciting seeing her on the cover of not just one, but two magazines at the moment!

Weeks before Isla Fisher started to prep for the onslaught of worldwide premieres for her latest film, The Great Gatsby, the 37-year-old actress took time out to pose for FASHION’s May 2013 issue and chat with our features editor, Elio Iannacci.
Aside from talking about her upcoming film roles (she has four films slated for release this year), the mother of two and wife of funny man Sascha Baron Cohen talked about her heroes, her style choices and, of course, her thoughts on comedy.

Was Charlize Theron embarrassed by her Oscar dance moves? The Snow White and the Huntsman actress, 37, participated in Oscar host Seth MacFarlane’s opening dance number for the 85th annual Academy Awards Sunday, Feb. 24, but she had a hard time accepting praise on her performance — especially from Isla Fisher.
An insider tells Us Weekly that while Fisher, 37, was backstage at the Dolby Theatre, she told a female friend about a funny exchange interaction she had with Theron.
“I went up to Charlize Theron and said, ‘Girl, you can dance!'” Fisher recalled, according to the eyewitness. “And Charlize said, ‘I’m going to punch you in the face right now!'”
All kidding aside, the South African actress did admit to E! News that she was “sort of tricked” into participating in the ballroom dancing number with Channing Tatum. “I thought it was going to be something smaller, like he pulls me up from the audience and we do a little spin,” she said. “But then he was was like, ‘Rehearsals start Monday!'”
And she didn’t really enjoy the pressure it put on her. Calling the experience “completely nerve-wracking,” the Oscar-winning star joked, “I thought I was going to have to wear one of my son’s diapers!”
