Isla is featured in the November issue of UK magazine Red, to promote Mazy The Movie Star. Isla talks about her new book, plus comedy and being funny, Wedding Crashers, clown school, her favourite British TV comedies, Home & Away, writing, and her favourite projects she’s worked on (Gatsby and Wolf Like Me). “Back To The Outback” press interviews
Isla’s been doing press interviews (virtually) for her new animated comedy Back To The Outback for the past few days. Here are the video interviews we can find so far, and this post will be updated as more are released. Isla also talks about her new show Wolf Like Me in some of them too.
“Home & Away”‘s Alf Stewart on Isla
Home & Away‘s Alf Stewart mentioned Isla in a recent interview:
Three decades on and the soap is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Ray’s been there since the first episode, and has seen many a drama unfold and many a star born, with everyone from Heath Ledger to Naomi Watts passing through Summer Bay.
“You can often tell that there’s something special when these young stars join,” says Ray. “I knew Isla Fisher was different from the moment I worked with her. Chris Hemsworth too – God was pretty kind to him to start with, but he put the hard work in too. It’s wonderful when the really nice people make it; I feel good that those guys are winning and it does make me proud to think they started out here.”
“Home & Away”‘s Pippa on Isla Fisher
Debra Lawrance, the actress who played Shannon Reed’s foster mother Pippa on Home & Away, recently spoke to an Aussie outlet about her time on the show and the cast she worked closely with, including Isla:
[…] She says she doesn’t watch Home And Away often, but she does keep in touch with the actors who played Pippa’s foster children during her time on the series.
Debra and her husband, Dennis Coard (who played Pippa’s husband Michael), are still close to Kate Ritchie, who starred as Sally Fletcher for 20 years.
When Isla Fisher, who played Shannon Reed, was in Australia last year, Debra and Dennis spent a “joyful” evening with the actress and her husband, Hollywood star Sacha Baron Cohen.
“It was like no time had gone past at all,” Debra says, adding she can’t help but feel a sense of pride now that Kate and Isla have children ?of their own.
“There’s a little part of me that feels like a grandmother,” Debra laughs.
“You feel that same sense of pride as you would if you were their own mum.”
Isla at the AACTA’s
As expected, Isla attended the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTAs) in Sydney earlier today, where she was presented with the Trailblazer Award. She was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband, and her mum Elspeth was inside for the ceremony with them. Isla was presented with her award – which she calls the “pinnacle” of her career – by Aussie actor Geoffrey Rush, and thanked fellow Aussie actresses and fellow orange person Donald Trump in her speech! Isla wore a classy black crystal polka dot dress by Aussie designer, with Bulgari jewellery. Read more from the night in the posts below (many of the links have good red carpet video interviews and ceremony footage in them that can’t be embedded here) and find the first HQ photos in our Gallery. Check back in the coming days for more coverage!
Congratulations to Isla on this fantastic honour – and on her 15th anniversary with Sacha! 🙂

Elle Australia scans
Today I’ve been able to add a full set of scans from Isla’s new Elle Australia magazine spread. She looks beautiful in the photos, and I love the natural, laid-back look of the shoot. In the relatively short interview, Isla talks about her life and career, including the benefits and pitfalls of not having gone to University, her time on Home & Away, motherhood and working, women in film, Instagram, and very briefly Keeping Up With The Joneses and Marge In Charge.
Please be sure to give us a link back if you re-post these scans elsewhere!
“I feel like I’ve been fortunate because I feel that the things I’ve achieved in my life have surpassed what I’d hoped to achieve. When I thought about myself living in a house in the Hollywood hills I’d always imagined myself to be cleaning it. For me, it’s about reframing the new me and and not comparing it to the old me.”

Isla Fisher on The Anton Savage Radio Show
Isla made a guest appearance on the Anton Savage Show on Irish radio channel TodayFM today to promote Marge In Charge. She also chatted about Nocturnal Animals and Keeping Up With The Joneses. Listen below:
Isla Fisher Has Written A Children’s Book
To some she’s one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, to others she’ll always be Shannon from Home and Away but now to a whole generation of children, Isla Fisher will be the voice behind Marge In Charge.
Inspired by two of her best friends, and her own imagination, Isla has created every child’s dream babysitter, Marge who has multi-coloured hair and a great sense of fun.
In her first Irish interview this morning, Isla spoke to Paul about her nerves of entering into the world of children’s books and when we can see her next on the big screen, plus we found out if she still thinks of her past as Shannon.
Marge In Charge, which is for younger readers, will be out next Thursday July 28th on Piccadilly Press.
