Amy Adams Doesn’t Get Why People Mistake Her for Isla Fisher

Nope, Amy Adams is not married to Sacha Baron Cohen. That’s Isla Fisher.

And it’s Fisher in Wedding Crashers, not Amy Adams.

While it seems perfectly reasonable to mix up the two redheaded bombshells – they have a similar look, they’re two years apart in age – Adams is 39 and Fisher is 37 – and an inch apart in height – Adams says she doesn’t understand why there’s any confusion.

“I get Isla Fisher all the time, still. And I know Isla, and for a while our kids went to the same dance school. When I’m with Isla, we both look at one another and … I get it but I don’t get it,” the actress tells Vanity Fair in their January cover story.

“But just like I tell her, it could be a lot worse. I could be mistaken for a lot worse people.”

Here’s a helpful hint: Adams is the one starring alongside Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale in American Hustle, out in theaters Dec. 13.

Isla Fisher reveals Louboutin ‘scar’

Isla Fisher reveals Louboutin ‘scar’

Isla Fisher hasn’t been put off wearing Louboutin heels despite being “forever scarred” after wearing them.

The flame haired beauty stars as Henley the escapologist in upcoming movie Now You See Me, and admitted she didn’t adapt too well to the stunt work involved.

Isla blamed her femme fatale character’s lion-taming costume on her mishap.

“I had to jump over a wall in Louboutin heels. I came straight over and took the skin off my knees. One of them was healed but the other one is forever scarred. I also did a bit of bad jump when I had to leap of a building – I hurt my neck a bit. It’s normal wear and tear,” Isla told Total Film magazine. “We didn’t really know what kind of stunts we were going to do until the day, so it was hard to prep for them – especially since I’m not the sportiest person!”

Despite her mishap on the set of the film, Isla chose to don a pair of the towering peep-toes for her editorial photo shoot with the July UK edition of Cosmopolitan magazine.

In her centre spread, the witty star poses in a light green embellished Jenny Packham dress, light coloured Christian Louboutins and a bracelet by Buba.

“If blondes have more fun, redheads definitely have more freckles,” she revealed to the publication.

“My underwear drawer is full of Agent Provocateur of course!”

For her Los Angeles based shoot with Cosmopolitan, Isla chose from three suitcases of clothes and 21 pairs of shoes.

From all the outfits she wore, Isla loved a purple shimmering Topshop bikini the most, and was given the two-piece as a gift from the magazine after.

For the cover image, Isla smiles in a sunshine yellow dress by Rachel Gilbert, with her hair styled using Bumble and Bumble products with her make-up courtesy of the Chanel Les Beiges range.

Isla Fisher: I battled shyness

Isla Fisher: I battled shyness

Isla Fisher learned to laugh at herself to help her make friends when she was younger.

The redheaded star is known for playing loveable characters in romantic comedies such as Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Off screen she is also famed for her wicked sense of humour, but Isla admits she hasn’t always been so bubbly.

“I went to something like six different schools before the age of 12, so I was always the new girl and had to make friends quickly,” she recalled to the UK edition of Cosmopolitan.

“It was difficult at the start because I was very bookish – I was literally sat in the corner reading books, with no friends. So I learnt to be funny and to take the p**s out of myself in order to ingratiate myself. I think it’s one of the best skills in life.”

Isla began her career on TV soap Home and Away and landed her first big movie role in 2002’s Scooby-Doo.

Now starring in movies such as Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, the 37-year-old is a firm believer in fate.

“I’ve had no helping hand in Hollywood. But in general I’ve found that when it comes to getting jobs, what’s meant for you can’t pass you by,” she explained.

“I’ve tried to follow that philosophy because otherwise you can drive yourself crazy when you’re out there presenting yourself and you get so much rejection.”

Isla Fisher opens up to Cosmo!

Star of The Great Gatsby, and Now You See Me, Isla Fisher is the perfect Cosmo cover star! In the July issue she reveals all about the rejection she experienced at the start of her career, and how she overcame it.

You’d think having a famous husband like Sacha Baron Cohen, you’d be sorted in Hollywood. But apparently not! Isla revealed exclusively to Cosmo: “I really have had no help. In fact, the one time I did ask for help was after my agent in LA fired me. I was auditioning for all sorts of things but kept getting told ‘no’, so she just fired me! So anyway, I said to Sacha, who was my boyfriend at the time, ‘Can you ask your agent if they’ll represent me?’ And his agent said, ‘No way.’ It was the only favour I’d ever asked, and I was like, ‘OK… great’. But it spurred me on.”

Looking at Isla now – especially in this month’s Cosmo – you’d never realise she was once a wallflower. Speaking about her childhood, she said: “I went to something like six different schools before the age of 12, so I was always the new girl and had to make friends quickly. It was difficult at the start because I was very bookish – I was literally sat in the corner reading books, with no friends. So I learnt to be funny and to take the piss out of myself in order to ingratiate myself. I think it’s one of the best skills in life.”

“The good thing about a drama is that everyone takes it seriously so you do feel like you can lose yourself in a scene. With comedy I can never do that because I’m always thinking ‘what’s something funny I could do now, how can I improvise, how can I make people laugh?'”

“The Great Gatsby” opens the Cannes Film Festival!

Isla and her Great Gatsby castmates and crew opened the illustrious Cannes Film Festival today! All the lead cast (minus Jason Clarke it seems) plus Baz, Catherine Martin and screenwriter Craig Pearce attended a photocall for the movie first thing, followed by a press conference, and then a (rain-soaked) red carpet premiere this evening. Isla looked fresh and feminine in a little white dress by Dolce & Gabbana paired with Roger Vivier heels for the daytime press, and changed into a dramatic strapless red gown by Oscar de la Renta with a Bulgari Heritage necklace for the premiere. Both fantastic looks from her, and it’s so exciting seeing her premiere a movie at the Cannes Film Festival – surely a great moment for her 😀

You can watch the official video footage from the photocall, press conference and premiere at the Cannes Film Festival website. Further down this post is an article about the opening day of the festival, and in our Gallery are the gorgeous first HQ photos from the days events – enjoy!

Isla Fisher: Family is romantic

Isla Fisher found it “romantic” to start a family with her husband Sacha Baron Cohen.

The actress has two daughters with her husband Sacha Baron Cohen – Olive, five and Elula, two. Isla has thrived since becoming a mother and believes it has deepened her bond with Sacha. The stars are determined to give their children a normal upbringing wherever possible.

“I think the most romantic thing you can ever do is to make a family with someone,” she said in an interview with British magazine Stylist. “I love being a mom and it’s my favourite topic personally, but professionally I hate talking about it. In England it’s wonderful actually because they pixelate kids’ faces and they’re quite good at respecting the rights of children because they didn’t choose to have famous parents so they deserve to have a normal childhood like we all have. I don’t mention them because I really want them to have safe, normal lives and be treated like individuals away from what we do.”

The 37-year-old actress is widely admired for her youthful looks and she often lands roles playing women in their 20s. Although Isla feels lucky to have been blessed with age-defying genes, she has recalled a time when it led to an embarrassing situation.

“When I first came to Hollywood, I went with Sacha to a very big Hollywood party for Lost In Translation. When we pulled up, everyone you could imagine was in this room, Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman… This lady came straight up to me, introduced herself as Colleen and then turned to me and said, ‘Come with me, I’ve got something to show you.’ I’m thinking oh my god, I’m so excited,” she explained. “So she takes me away from Sacha and opens this door and there’s this giant pink room covered in kids’ posters and there in the middle is a group of 14-year-old girls and she said, ‘Everybody, this is Sacha’s daughter,’ and asked me if I wanted a soft drink. Clearly I should have worn more make-up!”
