The idea to stage the party in Prague’s biggest swimming pool is illegal but cool. And when Gregor, the laid-back leader of the group thinks an idea is good, then no-one else from the group objects. But what begins as the night of all nights quickly turns into a life and death struggle, as the friends come to realise that death itself is on the guest list… A mysterious masked killer sets a hunt in motion that ranges through the facility’s halls and corridors. As the kids panic it begins to dawn on them that the killer must be one of them…

Character Information

Isla plays Kim, a student and the girlfriend of James McAvoy’s character Mike. Kim flunks her exam and is upset about it, and feels worse when her boyfriend suggests going to a party will make it better. Later, the couple go to a lake together to relax, and Kim once again snaps at Mike when he mentions the party. She doesn’t have anything to celebrate, she tells him. She doesn’t like his lifestyle, and grabs her clothes, tells him it’s over, and runs off. She then finds herself lost in the woods by herself at night … but she’s not alone…

Quotes: Character

Mike: “Hey, how you doing?”
Kim: “Not very good … pretty bad in fact – I’ve totally fucked it up.”
Mike: “Shit I’m sorry. But hey, it’s cool, tonight, there’s gonna be a big party and it’s gonna be loads of fun!”
Kim: “Party? Yeah right! Go back to the others Mike, worry about where your all important party is gonna be! See ya later.”

Kim: “You just don’t get it, do you? I’m tired of you and your friends all coming to school in your bima’s and your merc’s and your jag’s, and acting as if nothing else matters because you’re rich! When you’re rich, nothing matters right? I’m still working my ass off on getting to school on a bloody bus, and I’m not only poor, but I also failed my fucking exams. You want me to celebrate with your rich buddies now?! Fuck. Off.”
Mike: “Kim, listen to me!”
Kim: “No! It’s over. I’m going back to my world, where some things matter.”

BeyondHollywood.com: “If it’s not obvious by now, “The Pool” is definitely nothing special. Even by “Scream” standards, the film is probably too straightforward and by-the-numbers for its own good. Then again, it’s also an acceptable piece of entertainment that will appeal to absolutely no one other than fans of the genre.”

EFilmCritic.com: “Though The Pool isn’t a really hardcore slasher movie, it’s a somewhat entertaining and comfortably familiar return to the body-count films of yore. (Yore being about 1982.)”

Fisher Fantastic

Isla appears in a token slasher horror movie, but unless you’re a fan of the genre, there’s not much to be seen here. Isla plays the straight girl, and has only a few scenes, in most of which she gets to raise her voice a bit. We won’t give away spoilers, but she’s not in the film much.

We are not aware of any promotion Isla might have done for this film.
