Universal’s Animated Comedy ‘Strays’ Adds Isla Fisher
Isla Fisher (Wolf Like Me) has signed on to star alongside Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Will Forte and Randall Park in Universal’s animated comedy Strays, Deadline can confirm.
The film from Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar director Josh Greenbaum combines CGI and live-action elements to follow an abandoned dog (Ferrell) who teams up with other strays, including one portrayed by Foxx, to get revenge on his former owner (Forte). Details with regard to the character Fisher is playing have not been disclosed.
American Vandal‘s Dan Perrault penned the script. Greenbaum is producing alongside Picturestart’s Erik Feig, Louis Leterrier, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Lord Miller President of Film, Aditya Sood, with Jessica Switch and Lord Miller’s Nikki Baida exec producing, and Picturestart’s Julia Hammer serving as co-producer. SVP of Production Development Jeyun Munford and Director of Development Tony Ducret are overseeing the project for the studio. The film is slated for release on June 9, 2023.
Fisher currently exec produces and stars alongside Josh Gad in the Peacock miniseries Wolf Like Me. The actress has also appeared in Arrested Development and other series, as well as such films as Back to the Outback, Greed, The Beach Bum, Tag, Keeping Up with the Joneses, Nocturnal Animals, The Brothers Grimsby, The Great Gatsby and Wedding Crashers, to name a few.
She is represented by UTA, Shanahan Management in Australia and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Isla Fisher has received critical acclaim for her role in Stan’s latest comedy-drama series Wolf Like Me, but fans might be shocked to find out that it wasn’t always the Aussie actress we were seeing on screen.
The Home and Away alum revealed on Thursday that she actually had a stunt double perform her many running scenes.
“To do this show I got this special lady in who filmed me running and showed me just how foolish it was and we broke it all down so I did a little running practice,” she told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa.
“But actually, I had this amazing stunt lady who was a lot fitter than me and probably 20 years younger and so she did all the dashing from behind.
Isla promotes “Back To The Outback” on Weekend Sunrise
Aussie morning show Weekend Sunrise aired an interview with Isla and Tim Minchin yesterday, to promote Back To The Outback. She talked about how she enjoyed being able to ‘film’ this role in her sweats in her house, how her family love the film because they miss Australia, and also a bit about Wolf Like Me.

Isla appeared virtually on Aussie morning show The Today Show on Wednesday, as part of her on-going promotion for Wolf Like Me. Isla talked about her character Mary, the message of the show, Josh Gad, kangaroos, and filming in Australia.

Isla appeared via video link on Aussie morning show ABC News Breakfast on Monday, to promote Wolf Like Me. She talked mostly about trying not to give the plot of the show away! This is the same dress she wore on The Project – by Versace, with shoes from By Far, and jewellery from Celeste Starre.

Isla on Watch What Happens Live
Isla appeared on Watch What Happens Live last Thursday, as part of her Wolf Like Me promotion. As well as her new show, she also chatted about being married to someone else in the same business, Curb Your Enthusiasm, I Heart Huckabees, the advice she was given by Naomi Watts that’s helped to guide her career, Wedding Crashers (no sequel just yet!) and who made her the most star struck the first time she met them (Eddie Murphy). She also gave her views on some of her previous red carpet outfits, and they showed clips from some of her early roles (Clowning Around 2 and Scooby Doo). In the after show she chatted about her experience working with Leo DiCaprio for The Great Gatsby, and with Tom Ford on Nocturnal Animals.
