Jillian Bell, Isla Fisher to Star in Disney+ Comedy ‘Godmothered’
Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell are set to star in Godmothered, a comedy for Disney+.
Sharon McGuire, best known for directing the Bridget Jones movies, is helming the feature project that is being developed by Disney’s live-action team run by motion picture production president Sean Bailey.
Justin Springer and Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures are producing.
The story tells of a young and unskilled fairy godmother (Bell) that ventures out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored. What she discovers is that the girl has now become a grown woman (Fisher) in need of something very different than a “Prince Charming.”
Kari Granlund (Lady and the Tramp) and Melissa Stack wrote the script.
Production is due to begin later this month in Boston. Jessica Virtue and Allison Erlikman are overseeing for Disney.
Bell toplined the well-regarded comedy Brittany Runs a Marathon, which she also executive produced. Prior to that, the actress did scene-stealing work in a slew of comedies ranging from 22 Jump Street and Rough Night to Fist Fight and Goosebumps. She also worked with Paul Thomas Anderson in Inherent Vice and The Master.
Fisher is coming off shooting a leading role in Blithe Spirit opposite Dan Stevens and Judi Dench, and last year appeared opposite Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum. She also appears with Steve Coogan in the upcoming satire Greed, which will be released by Sony Pictures Classics.
Fisher is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer; Bell is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Stone Genow.

Isla and Sacha attended the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills last night, where Sacha was nominated for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for The Spy. Isla stood out in a gorgeous fuschia Monique Lhuillier gown, with Dena Kemp jewellery. The first photos can be found in our Gallery:

“Arrested Development” Season 5 Part 2 screencaptures
As posted about before, Isla reprised her role of Rebel Alley in Season 5 of Arrested Development, although it emerged last year that the season was split into two parts. The first 8 episodes aired in 2018, and the second part aired last year. Isla only appeared in a couple of the episodes last year, and today HD screencaptures from those episodes have been added to our Gallery. This was a fun role for Isla, and gave her another great opportunity to show off her comedic talents!

Isla and Sacha at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party
Isla and Sacha attended the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party in LA yesterday, to celebrate awards season. Isla looked chic in a black sequinned outfit by Haney. We have the first few photos in our Gallery for you. The couple also showed up at Netflix’s Golden Globe Weekend Cocktail Party – Sacha’s Golden Globe nominated mini-series The Spy was made by Netflix.
Sacha is nominated for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for The Spy at the Golden Globe Awards so hopefully we’ll see them on the red carpet together again tonight!

This is not one of my favourite films of her, but she plays the wild characters so well and as always, brings real heart to the film. Isla guest-starring in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Season 10

“Greed” trailer and UK release date
The first trailer for one of Isla’s upcoming movies – Greed – has just been released:
GREED tells the story of self-made British billionaire Sir Richard McCreadie (Steve Coogan), whose retail empire is in crisis. For 30 years he has ruled the world of retail fashion – bringing the high street to the catwalk and the catwalk to the high street – but after a damaging public inquiry, his image is tarnished. To save his reputation, he decides to bounce back with a highly publicised and extravagant party celebrating his 60th birthday on the Greek island of Mykonos. A satire on the grotesque inequality of wealth in the fashion industry, the film sees McCreadie’s rise and fall through the eyes of his biographer, Nick (David Mitchell).
