Isla to voice character for Disney Junior’s “Sofia The First”

Disney Junior Launches “Soaring Over Summer” Event With New Episodes Daily

Hot weather, hot episodes! Disney Junior will debut a new episode of one of its hit series every weekday for seven consecutive weeks (Monday, June 29 through Thursday, August 13), as part of its “Soaring Over Summer” multi-platform event. New episodes of alternating series Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Miles From Tomorrowland, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and Henry Hugglemonster will premiere each weekday at 9 a.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Junior.

The event will include season three premieres of the Peabody Award-winning Doc McStuffins (Thursday, July 2), where Doc and the toys must rescue her toy dragon, Stuffy, when he slips and falls into the pool, and the Emmy Award-winning Sofia the First (Wednesday, August 5), which finds Sofia returning to Merroway Cove and meeting a new mermaid friend, Fluke. Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) and John Ross Bowie (The Big Bang Theory) return in the episode as mermaid Oona and seahorse Sven.

Also premiering is Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates: The Great Never Sea Conquest, a special 44-minute episode (Friday, July 31) that finds Jake becoming captain, a plotline that will carry into the upcoming fourth season of the series. The episode includes guest stars Malcolm McDowell (The Mentalist) as Lord Fathom and Jim Rash (Community) as his sidekick Sinker.

Additional guest stars throughout the summer include six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald as a tiny tin airplane pilot named Bess on Doc McStuffins; Isla Fisher and Sean Astin as mischievous sprites Button and Bengee on Sofia the First. Also lending her voice to Sofia is Vivica A. Fox as Sofia’s idol Carol of the Arrow. Jake guest stars include David Tennant as an evil genie named Dread, and Nestor Carbonell, Brett Dalton, and Chloe Bennet as a trio of fearless birds. And how’s this for typecasting? Iron Chef America’s Alton Brown will play alien chef Lysander Floovox on Miles From Tomorrowland.

The new episodes will also be available each weekday on WATCH Disney Junior, which will launch a Soaring Over Summer Arcade, featuring several retro arcade-style games with voxel versions of Sofia, Doc, Miles, Jake and Henry.

Isla at The Screen Actors Guild Awards

Isla attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago, as one of the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series nominees for Arrested Development. She looked super glamourous and Hollywood in a champagne coloured gown by Oscar De La Renta, with Louboutin ‘Lady Peep Ringed Strass’ heels and Bulgari jewellry to accessorise, and her red hair tousled and curled. Sacha joined her for the show inside, and the couple were seen talking to Arrested Development producer Brian Grazer. Unfortunately the cast did not win their category – it went to Modern Family instead – but it’s still great to see Isla in attendance and looking fabulous as a nominee on the red carpet!

With thanks to Lindsey, Luciana, Celyn and Marina, we have over 100 HQ photos from the event in our Gallery!

Vulture Broke the “Bored to Death” Movie News to Isla Fisher

Vulture Broke the Bored to Death Movie News to Isla Fisher, and Yes, She Wants In

When Vulture first heard that there might be a Bored to Death movie, we got super excited and started spreading the good word — in some cases, breaking the news to folks who might actually be in the movie, should creator Jonathan Ames decide to include their characters. Yesterday afternoon, we had the distinct pleasure of informing Isla Fisher that a movie was in the works and got to witness her delight. “Oh my God!” she squealed, when we grabbed a quiet moment with her at a Great Gatsby event hosted by Tiffany & Co. and MAC Cosmetics (Fisher plays Myrtle Wilson). “My agents don’t tell me anything! I didn’t know!” And then she realized, “I’m in the season finale … that means I get to be in it! Did [Ames] say I’ll get to be in it? Do you know?”

Assuming Ames sticks to his original plan of putting her character, Rose, in a sanitarium to recover from accidental incest with Schwartzman’s character, we thought so, yes. “Oh, wow. Wow. I would love to play that. Fabulous. That’s something you can really sink your teeth into,” she said. “I loved working on that show. I remember, I came home and I said to my manager or agent, ‘That would be the perfect job for me, to have a regular gig, working with the nicest people. I love Jonathan Ames. I loved working with Jason Schwartzman. I loved it. Loved it.” Ames should be pleased at her enthusiasm, because one of his concerns was whether or not Fisher would be available to resume her role. “I’ll make myself available!” she giggled. “That is the best news. You’ve actually really made my day.” Glad to be of service. Ames, your move.

‘Arrested Development’ scoop: Isla Fisher and Terry Crews appearing in Season 4

he “Arrested Development” gang has been hard at work recruiting fan favorites to appear on the revived series when it is released on Netflix in 2013, but they’ve also reached out for some new faces too. Zap2it has confirmed that both Isla Fisher and Terry Crews will appear in Season 4.

Both Fisher and Crews have already started shooting their guest roles in the upcoming fourth season, Zap2it can exclusively reveal. There’s no word on who they’re playing, but both will have run-ins with the Bluths when the dysfunctional family heads to Netflix in the spring.

The only other confirmed newbies are the “Workaholics” dudes and John Slattery. They join old faves like Liza Minnelli (Lucille 2), Henry Winkler (Barry Zuckerkorn), Judy Greer (Kitty Sanchez) and Scott Baio (Bob Loblaw), who are definitely coming back.

“Arrested Development” will air on Netflix in the spring of 2013.
