Will Ferrell & Rachel McAdams Talk Wedding Crashers Sequel

Whilst promoting their new Netflix comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams teased some news on a possible Wedding Crashers sequel:

Will Ferrell & Rachel McAdams Talk Wedding Crashers Sequel, Reuniting for Eurovision & More

What would a Wedding Crashers 2 look like?

E! News co-host Scott Tweedie made sure to ask all about the potential sequel during his exclusive chat with Wedding Crashers alums Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. While Tweedie was eager for details about the Wedding Crashers follow-up film, the two actors—who have reunited for a new Netflix movie, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga—stayed relatively tight-lipped.

“Wedding Crashers 2, yeah. I think we can just say it’s being written,” Ferrell told E! News.

As Tweedie joked about potential plot lines, Ferrell jokingly suggested that the sequel should be a drama about the characters’ subsequent divorces.

“How about if it’s just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? Wedding Crashers 2,” he quipped. “And just make it like a legal courtroom drama, not funny at all.”

For McAdams, she too thought divorce was in the cards for the characters of Wedding Crashers.

“Are we all getting divorced?” she pondered.

Isla Fisher to Star in Dark Comedy ‘Guilty Party’ at CBS All Access

CBS All Access has given out a series order to the dark comedy series “Guilty Party” with Isla Fisher set to star, Variety has learned.

In the half-hour series, Fisher plays Beth Baker, a discredited journalist desperate to salvage her career by latching on to the story of a young mother sentenced to life in prison for maiming and murdering her husband, crimes she claims she didn’t commit. In trying to uncover the truth, Beth finds herself in over her head as she contends with Colorado gun-smugglers, clickbait culture, the doldrums of marriage and her own tarnished past.

Fisher will serve as executive producer in addition to starring. Rebecca Addelman serves as writer and executive producer. Sam Hansen, Jimmy Miller and Funny Or Die’s Joe Farrell, Jim Ziegler, and Mike Farah will also executive produce, with Joe Hardesty co-executive producing. Trent O’Donnell is set to direct and executive produce. CBS Television Studios will produce in association with Funny or Die and Mosaic.

“’Guilty Party’ is a wild ride fueled by Beth’s grit, passionate heart and desperation to redeem herself,” said Julie McNamara, executive vice president and head of programming for CBS All Access. “We knew we needed a magnetic, versatile talent in the role, and Isla perfectly embodies the wholly original character Rebecca created. We are thrilled to add ‘Guilty Party’ to our growing comedy slate which includes ‘Why Women Kill,’ ‘No Activity’ and the upcoming animated ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks.’”

Her role in the series will mark the first regular television role for Fisher since she appeared on the Australian show “Home and Away” in the 1990s. She is known for her roles in films like “Wedding Crashers,” “The Beach Bum,” “I Heart Huckabees,” “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” Her other past TV roles include “Arrested Development,” “Bored to Death,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Jillian Bell, Isla Fisher to Star in Disney+ Comedy ‘Godmothered’

Jillian Bell, Isla Fisher to Star in Disney+ Comedy ‘Godmothered’

Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell are set to star in Godmothered, a comedy for Disney+.

Sharon McGuire, best known for directing the Bridget Jones movies, is helming the feature project that is being developed by Disney’s live-action team run by motion picture production president Sean Bailey.

Justin Springer and Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures are producing.

The story tells of a young and unskilled fairy godmother (Bell) that ventures out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored. What she discovers is that the girl has now become a grown woman (Fisher) in need of something very different than a “Prince Charming.”

Kari Granlund (Lady and the Tramp) and Melissa Stack wrote the script.

Production is due to begin later this month in Boston. Jessica Virtue and Allison Erlikman are overseeing for Disney.

Bell toplined the well-regarded comedy Brittany Runs a Marathon, which she also executive produced. Prior to that, the actress did scene-stealing work in a slew of comedies ranging from 22 Jump Street and Rough Night to Fist Fight and Goosebumps. She also worked with Paul Thomas Anderson in Inherent Vice and The Master.

Fisher is coming off shooting a leading role in Blithe Spirit opposite Dan Stevens and Judi Dench, and last year appeared opposite Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum. She also appears with Steve Coogan in the upcoming satire Greed, which will be released by Sony Pictures Classics.

Fisher is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer; Bell is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Stone Genow.
