Elle Australia scans

Today I’ve been able to add a full set of scans from Isla’s new Elle Australia magazine spread. She looks beautiful in the photos, and I love the natural, laid-back look of the shoot. In the relatively short interview, Isla talks about her life and career, including the benefits and pitfalls of not having gone to University, her time on Home & Away, motherhood and working, women in film, Instagram, and very briefly Keeping Up With The Joneses and Marge In Charge.

Please be sure to give us a link back if you re-post these scans elsewhere!

“I feel like I’ve been fortunate because I feel that the things I’ve achieved in my life have surpassed what I’d hoped to achieve. When I thought about myself living in a house in the Hollywood hills I’d always imagined myself to be cleaning it. For me, it’s about reframing the new me and and not comparing it to the old me.”

New interview with The Metro

Isla chats about Marge In Charge, Grimsby, females in comedy and more with London newspaper The Metro:

ISLA in the SUN

Actress Isla Fisher’s career has taken some inspired new turns. Claire Allfree catches up with her as she releases her new children’s book

YOU hear Isla Fisher before you see her. That throaty Australian drawl, that big, booming laugh. And then that flash of bright auburn hair that’s a frequent fixture on the red carpet thanks to Fisher’s film career, and that of her notorious husband, Sacha Baron Cohen (but which, for readers over a certain age, will be forever associated with anorexic Shannon from the Aussie soap Home And Away).

She clearly knows the man who runs the in-house café at her local Waterstones as she orders a latte but no one else in this manicured part of north London, no doubt well used to celebrities traipsing up and down the high street, bats an eyelid.

Warm, immediately friendly and sporting impressive long turquoise nails, Fisher is here to talk about her first children’s story, Marge In Charge, a comic caper aimed at seven-year-olds, featuring Marge, babysitter extraordinare to Jemima and her younger brother, Jakeypants, and an anarchic cross between Mary Poppins and Pippi Longstocking, with a dash of Dame Edna Everage thrown in.

‘Marge subverts all the rules,’ says Fisher of her fictional creation, who creates mayhem each time she comes to stay. ‘The kids end up babysitting their babysitter. I live vicariously through Marge because, being a mother myself, these days I have to be sensible.’

New interview and photoshoot for The Daily Mail

Isla appears on the front cover of The Daily Mail newspaper’s Sunday ‘You’ magazine supplement today, with a fantastic new interview to promote the upcoming release of her children’s book ‘Marge In Charge‘. In the interview, Isla talks about her career, why she enjoys reading and writing, her favourite children’s books, social media, aging, and who she’d like to work with in the future. Alongside this is a fun and colourful new photoshoot.

The Daily Mail also published an extract from the book to give us a sneak peek of Marge.

Read the interview below, and find the book extract at The Daily Mail website.

‘I wish I had the secret to balancing it all as a mum’: Actress Isla Fisher on juggling movies with motherhood and writing her way out of a midlife crisis

When Great Gatsby actress Isla Fisher (aka Mrs Sacha Baron Cohen) came to a crossroads in her life, she shook things up by making bedtime more interesting – both for her children and herself. In the process she found a new career, as Miranda Thompson discovers

When your films are Oscar-winning and you’re half of one of Hollywood’s hottest couples, what’s left to achieve? For The Great Gatsby’s Isla Fisher, it was simply a case of returning to a long-held passion: writing.

Away from the LA stardust, the actress, who turned 40 this year, is a self-confessed bibliophile who devoured two books a week before the arrival of her children with A-list husband Sacha Baron Cohen (the man behind Borat and Ali G). At 18, long before Hollywood came calling, she also published two young adult novels (co-written with her mum) in between stints on Aussie soap Home and Away.

This summer, Isla will be back in the bookshop with her comic children’s novel, Marge in Charge, which stars the eponymous Marge – a pint-sized babysitter with rainbow hair and a penchant for causing mayhem. Isla invented the character as a bedtime story and was inspired to put pen to paper after her brood kept requesting more of her.

The wellbeing of children is clearly important to Isla. In December last year, she and Sacha made the headlines for their £670,000 donation to charities working with victims of the conflict in Syria. ‘There are 8.4 million children in need in Syria and its neighbouring countries,’ she says. ‘We are facing the biggest humanitarian crisis since World War Two.’ Their donation paid for measles vaccinations for more than 250,000 children.

ING Direct customers take starring role alongside Isla Fisher

ING Direct has launched the next stage of its brand campaign, since the bank overhauled its positioning in June of last year and will star Isla Fisher as an ambassador.

In the campaign by VCCP Sydney, ING Direct has again used brand ambassador Isla Fisher alongside four customers to bring its customer experience offering to life.

ING Direct executive director John Arnott told AdNews Fisher has been a strong contributor to the company, doubling its sales in the past year and also raising its brand awareness.

Earlier this year, a study was released revealing celebrity ambassadors aren’t worth it unless they are a credible source that relates to the brand.

“Using a celebrity ambassador whose personality aligns with our brand and values helps [ING] cut through in a cluttered category,” Arnott says.

Isla Fisher pens children’s fiction series

Isla Fisher pens children’s fiction series

Piccadilly Press has acquired world rights, excluding North America, to a children’s fiction series by actress Isla Fisher.

The series, Marge in Charge, is about an eccentric babysitter called Marge, who, when looking after two children called Jemima and Jake, breaks all the rules by feeding her charges chocolate soup and playing dress-up in their mum’s closet. By the end, it’s Jemima and Jake who have to put the babysitter to bed, not the other way round.

Piccadilly Press founder Brenda Gardner acquired the rights to three books before she retired last year from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown. The series will be edited by Matilda Johnson and illustrated by Eglantine Ceulemans, and each book will be divided into three stories.

Fisher, who has starred in films such as The Great Gatsby and Wedding Crashers, said: “I’m so delighted that Piccadilly Press will bring Marge in Charge to life – now that I have children of my own I see the joy and magic in their everyday lives and books are a crucial part of this. I hope together we can introduce Marge to as many family bedtimes as possible.”

Johnson added: “We’re all incredibly excited to have Isla on the list – she is one of those rare people who has a natural gift for really making people laugh. Eglantine’s illustrations are perfect for these lively stories and endearing characters.”

Book one is due for publication this July.

Piccadilly Press is an imprint of Bonnier Publishing.
