Isla at the BookExpo Children’s Book & Author Breakfast

Isla continued her run at BookExpo yesterday, attending the Children’s Book & Author Breakfast and then a book signing in the morning. So far we only have a couple of photos from the event, but there are lots of fan-taken photos on Twitter, and I’ve embedded them below and added them as a ‘Moment’ on our Twitter account.

Marge In Charge will be available in the US on October 3rd.

BookExpo – Children’s Book & Author Breakfast x5

The most prominent stars in children’s and young adult literature are coming together at ReedPOP’s BookExpo for one of the show’s biggest events – the Children’s Book & Author Breakfast. One of the most popular events at BookExpo each year, the 2017 Children’s Book & Author Breakfast draws over a thousand attendees for a morning of lively conversation with literary giants.

This year’s breakfast will be hosted by beloved co-anchor of NBC’s Today and chief legal correspondent for NBC News, Savannah Guthrie. Guthrie will discuss her new young readers’ book, Princesses Wear Pants, which was co-written with Allison Oppenheim and illustrated by Eva Byrne. She will be joined by actress Isla Fisher who unveils the first book in her new Marge In Charge series and Jason Reynolds (When I Was The Greatest) who will take the stage to talk about his three forthcoming works, YA Spider-Man novel Miles Morales and novels Patina and Long Way Down. Founding member of We Need Diverse Books™ Marieke Nijkamp (This Is Where It Ends) will talk about her new YA novel Before I Let Go and acclaimed author Jennifer Weiner will discuss her middle grade book Little Bigfoot, Big City.

Taking place Friday, June 2, the BookExpo Children’s Book & Author Breakfast will kick off the final day of the 3-day event, further establishing BookExpo as the must-attend destination for the publishing industry.

“Our Children’s Book & Author Breakfast is one of the most anticipated events of the show each year, attracting a large audience looking to discover breakout talent in the world of children’s and young adult literature. We have an amazing lineup of established stars and emerging authors who are sure to offer an unforgettable morning of conversation,” said Brien McDonald, Event Director of BookExpo.

Isla at the BookExpo ‘Do I Amuse You?’ panel

Isla has started promotion for her children’s book Marge In Charge in the US, attending BookExpo in New York. On Thursday she attended the ‘Do I Amuse You?’ panel and spoke about what motivates her humour, alongside Denis Leary and John Hodgman. Isla looked summery in a little blue floral dress by Kate Spade – find HQ photos in our Gallery, and watch the video of the panel below. There are lots of fan photos on Twitter – I’ve added them to a ‘Moment’ on our Twitter, and you can also find them further down this post…

Do I amuse you? Isla Fisher (Marge in Charge – HarperCollins), John Hodgman (Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches – Viking), and Denis Leary (Why We Don’t Suck – Crown Archetype) represent a spectrum of comedians who excel on the big screen, the small screen, and on the page. During this stage talk, they’ll explore the quirks, the ups, and even the downs of their lives that fuel their laughter and led them to write such a diverse array of books. James West, Senior Digital Editor of Mother Jones, will moderate (BookExpoAmerica.com)

Isla at the AACTA’s

As expected, Isla attended the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTAs) in Sydney earlier today, where she was presented with the Trailblazer Award. She was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband, and her mum Elspeth was inside for the ceremony with them. Isla was presented with her award – which she calls the “pinnacle” of her career – by Aussie actor Geoffrey Rush, and thanked fellow Aussie actresses and fellow orange person Donald Trump in her speech! Isla wore a classy black crystal polka dot dress by Aussie designer, with Bulgari jewellery. Read more from the night in the posts below (many of the links have good red carpet video interviews and ceremony footage in them that can’t be embedded here) and find the first HQ photos in our Gallery. Check back in the coming days for more coverage!

Congratulations to Isla on this fantastic honour – and on her 15th anniversary with Sacha! 🙂

Isla Fisher to receive the AACTA Trailblazer Award

Congratulations to Isla on this fantastic honour!

Isla Fisher takes out AACTA Trailblazer Award

AACTA has named Isla Fisher as the recipient of this year’s AACTA Trailblazer Award, designed to recognise “the achievements, abilities and successes of an Australian screen practitioner who inspires others with their portfolio of work.”

The AACTA Trailblazer Award is a discretionary award, determined by the board and president of AFI | AACTA. It was first awarded to Rose Byrne at the 4th AACTA Awards.

After her start on Home and Away, Fisher broke in the States with 2005 comedyThe Wedding Crashers. She has since gone on to star in the likes of Definitely, Maybe; Confessions of a Shopaholic; and The Brothers Grimsby alongside husband Sasha Baron Cohen. Despite being a self-described ‘comic actress’, Fisher has also appeared in The Great Gatsby and the recent Nocturnal Animals.

Outside of acting, Fisher also published two teen novels at age 18; ‘Bewitched’ and ‘Seduced by Fame’. She has also co-written two scripts with Amy Poehler and her first children’s book ‘Marge in Charge’ was released earlier this year.

CEO Damian Trewhella said Fisher’s work in the international screen industry has added to Australia’s reputation for producing outstanding screen talent.

“From her breakout roles in Home and Away and the international comedy Wedding Crashers to her critically acclaimed dramatic performances in The Great Gatsby and Nocturnal Animals, Isla has carved a diverse career we hope serves as an inspiration to other Australian performers.

We also recognise Isla’s influential role as a champion for female comic actresses – a cause she has advocated for over a decade and which marries with one of AACTA’s most important aims – to foster talented Australian screen practitioners who serve to mentor and inspire the next generation of Australians to pursue their craft to its full potential.”

Isla Fisher said: “I’m so honoured to be recognised by the Australian Academy and my Australian peers as a trailblazer in film and television. That I am considered among those Australians who are inspiring the next generation of talent is a true honour. I’m looking forward to coming back to Sydney to accept the AACTA Trailblazer Award.”

Fisher will accept the award in person this Wednesday at the AACTA Awards Ceremony held at Sydney’s Star Event Centre.

Also in attendance will be Fisher’s husband Cohen, presenters Jessica Marais, Michael Caton, Marta Dusseldorp, Shane Jacobson, and Stephen Curry alongside guests Josh Thomas and Greta Scacchi.

The AACTA Awards will be televised on Channel 7 at 8.30pm with an encore screening on Foxtel.

Isla on ‘Anna Faris Is Unqualified’

Isla was a guest on Anna Faris’s weekly podcast ‘Unqualified’ and the twosome talk about a whole range of topics – it’s a really funny interview! Listen in:

Anna Faris is Unqualified Podcast: not-so-great relationship advice from completely unqualified Hollywood types.

This week on Unqualified, Anna and Sim hang out with actress Isla Fisher (Nocturnal Animals, Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic). They talk about tabloid rumors, peaking at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, and what it’s like being a mom in Hollywood, before testing out how Isla would proceed in some crazy scenarios. Karen Sarducci also pencils in a visit with Isla to pitch some feature film ideas with major Oscar buzz! Will she sign on? Listen in and find out! And come back tomorrow for some listener calls!

On part two of this week’s episode, Anna, Sim, and Isla Fisher dial up some callers. First they call Dianne, whose boyfriend broke the one rule in their non-monogamous relationship by sleeping with a mutual friend who he claims was “in a dark place.” Next, the team dishes out some unqualified advice to Allison, who’s worried that one of her best friends could potentially be marrying the wrong person. Stakes are high this week, tune in!

Isla Fisher on Being Mistaken for ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Co-Star Amy Adams: It’s a Huge Compliment

Nocturnal Animals co-stars Isla Fisher and Amy Adams know that you can’t tell them apart, but they’re not the least bit offended.

“I find it a huge compliment because I think Amy’s gorgeous,” Fisher told ET’s Carly Steel during a recent sit-down.

Adams admitted that even she can see the resemblance at times.

“Sometimes I’ve been like, ‘Oh yeah! I can totally see it,'” Adams said. “But she’s small and cute, and I’m sort of not as small or as cute,” she joked.

While Fisher doesn’t mind the confusion, she revealed that it can sometimes lead to awkward situations.

Scans from Glamour Mexico & Latin America

Today we have a full set of scans from Glamour Mexico! This is a very different shoot, but equally beautiful. Unfortunately my Spanish is rusty so I can’t give you details on the interview, but it seems that she spoke about Keeping Up With The Joneses, Nocturnal Animals, Marge In Charge, previous characters she’s played, and women and diversity in film/television – it’s a much more in depth interview than Elle. Isla is also on the cover of Glamour Latin America – it’s the same interview but the two editions have a couple of different pictures within them. Enjoy the scans in our Gallery!

Again, please give us a link back if you re-post these elsewhere.
