Isla Fisher reveals why she didn’t perform her own stunts in Wolf Like Me: “I’m the opposite of Tom Cruise”

Isla Fisher has received critical acclaim for her role in Stan’s latest comedy-drama series Wolf Like Me, but fans might be shocked to find out that it wasn’t always the Aussie actress we were seeing on screen.

The Home and Away alum revealed on Thursday that she actually had a stunt double perform her many running scenes.

“To do this show I got this special lady in who filmed me running and showed me just how foolish it was and we broke it all down so I did a little running practice,” she told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa.

“But actually, I had this amazing stunt lady who was a lot fitter than me and probably 20 years younger and so she did all the dashing from behind.

“And anytime you see me from the front is basically the only time I had to do it. Yeah I’m that bad and by the way, everyone keeps congratulating me up for jumping over a fence again. That was our fantastic stunt double.”

Isla joked that she’s the opposite of Tom Cruise, who’s known for performing his own death-defying stunts in films.

“I don’t want to do any stunts ever. Like I know I’ll get injured. I’m not very physically sporty. I’m quite happy for someone with a sleeker physique to just pop in and take over,” she said.

Isla also hilariously revealed that she once attended “clown school” where she was mocked for her lack of running skills.

“I can’t show off that I went to NIDA. But I did go to clown school where I was mocked and made to run in front of the whole class while everyone laugh because my running technique was such an embarrassment,” she said.

Isla stars alongside Josh Gad in Wolf Like Me, a series filmed in South Australia which follows the new relationship of Mary and Gary.

Gary, played by Josh, is an emotional wreck and struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife. Meanwhile Isla’s character Mary has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone.

As Mary and Gary’s universes collide, both are terrified their baggage will tear them apart.
