First look at “Keeping Up With The Joneses”

We finally have our first look at Isla’s upcoming movie Keeping Up With The Joneses! The first trailer has been released today, and this was accompanied by the first stills and an official site. The cast also appeared on The Today Show earlier this morning to promote the trailer release, chatting about their characters and working together. Watch the trailer and TV appearance within this post, and find the stills and HD screencaptures in our Gallery. The movie looks really funny – what do you think?

The movie hits US cinemas on October 21st, and follows in the UK on October 28th.

An ordinary suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher) finds it’s not easy keeping up with the Joneses (Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot) – their impossibly gorgeous and ultra-sophisticated new neighbors – especially when they discover that Mr. and Mrs. “Jones” are covert operatives.

Zach Galifianakis: Co-star Jon Hamm is ‘frustratingly funny’ in new film

When a new couple played by Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot move in next door, nosy neighbors (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher) do some digging to see if they really are who they claim to be. TODAY’s Willie Geist sits down down with the cast of the upcoming comedy “Keeping Up with the Joneses” and finds out where Galifianakis ranks himself on the “hunky leading men” scale.

First Look! Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot Make a Sexy Spy Couple in Keeping Up with the Joneses

As if they’re not beautiful enough on their own, Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot are teaming up and starring as a couple in the upcoming film Keeping Up with the Joneses.

The sexy duo play secret spies who move into a new neighborhood and befriend an ordinary suburban couple played by Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher.

One of the film’s producers, Walter Parkes, tells PEOPLE the four actors played off each other seamlessly.

“They’re all so funny and they’re so different physically and yet there’s something about this group of friends that you just feel very kind of satisfied at the end,” Parkes explains. “I think we were benefitted by the fact that Zach and Jon go back many, many, many years, they’re very good friends, and so that had the opportunity for them to form together.”

But the most surprising performances may come from Gadot and Hamm, Parkes says.

“[Jon]’s most noble role is as this dark mysterious figure Don Draper, but he turns out to just sort of have mastered comic timing,” he says.

Israeli-born Gadot, who made her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman, has a humorous side herself.

“In some ways I find particularly for a non-originally U.S. speaker to be able to operate in comedies may be the hardest thing there is, and she was just so relaxed and precise and loose and never tried to play the joke but rather just play the reality of the scene and let the comedy come out organically,” Parkes says. “Just to literally have the verbal skills to be able to do that makes me think that there’s nothing this gal couldn’t do.”

Keeping Up with the Joneses opens in theaters Oct. 21.

Keeping Up With The Joneses: exclusive first look

Neighbour-based comedies are a vintage we haven’t seen in Hollywood for a while – until now, with new comedy Keeping Up With The Joneses setting couple against gun-toting couple. Peer over your garden fence and you’ll find the first trailer, plus an exclusive-to-Empire image.

Zach Galifianakis (sporting a David Brent-ish goatee) and Isla Fisher play a typical ordinary suburban couple who find themselves struggling to keep up with the Joneses, played in this particular case by Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot. The struggle becomes ever more real when it turns out that Mr & Mrs Jones are spies, embroiling the peaceful suburbs in action and espionage. The ‘Burbs meets Mr & Mrs Smith, then?

With the directing prowess of Greg Mottola, who has quietly made some of the wittiest and most charming comedies of the last few years (see: Superbad, Adventureland, Paul), and a script from Michael LeSieur (You, Me And Dupree), this is one to look out for.

Keeping Up With The Joneses is heading towards a US release date of October 21, before its UK release a week later on October 28.
