Isla Fisher to Co-Star With Matthew McConaughey in âBeach Bumâ
Isla Fisher is set to star opposite Matthew McConaughey in Harmony Korineâs next movie, âBeach Bum,â sources tell Variety.
The film will be a co-production between Neon and Vice with Neon, which bought the rights for the film at this yearâs Cannes Film Festival, handling distribution. CAA will be negotiating the domestic sales while Rocket Science handled international sales.
âBeach Bumâ is a comedy that follows the misadventures of Moondog (McConaughey), a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large. Fisher will play Moondogâs wife.
The film will be written and directed by Korine, whose unique filmmaking style gained recognition with âSpring Breakers,â which starred James Franco and brought in $31 million at the worldwide box office.
Le Grisbi Productionsâ John Lesher, Anonymous Contentâs Steve Golin, Iconoclastâs Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Mourad Belkeddar, and Nicolas Lhermitte will produce. The film is executive produced by Tom Quinn and Tim League for Neon and Shane Smith, Eddy Moretti, and Danny Gabai for Vice.
Fisher had a busy 2016, which included âThe Brother Grimsby,â âKeeping up With the Joneses,â and Tom Fordâs âNocturnal Animals.â Fisher just recently wrapped production on âTagâ opposite Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm.
She is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.

Isla promotes Marge In Charge on Steve
Isla continued her US ‘Marge In Charge’ promotional tour with an appearance on US chat show Steve yesterday. She chatted about her transport of choice, the book, Morgan Freeman, and who takes charge of various things at home. Here’s the interview:

For actress Isla Fisher, being a mom is what she feels most proud about, but the public won’t be finding out details about her kids any time soon.
“It feels like now itâs an interesting news point that I donât want to talk about it. Yet when I started out, it was interesting that people wanted to talk about their private life. No one could believe it,” said Fisher, who has three kids with husband Sacha Baron Cohen, to TODAY Parents. “Everyone was like ‘Oh my god. Can you believe she is talking about her private life whoever it was.’ Nowadays, we are used to everyone sharing everything that Iâve become an interesting news story for keeping a secret.”
The decision to keep her family private is one the actress-turned-author, who wrote the children’s book “Marge in Charge”, has given a lot of thought to.
“If you speak about your children or if you take them to a red carpet event, you canât be litigious later on when there is a picture of them in something and say, ‘hey, they deserve anonymity,’ but they do,” the mom of three explained. “They have rights, too. Itâs a very conscious decision and truly I would feel really disgusting about myself if I used my family to sell something. It wouldnât sit right with me. It doesnât line up with my values.”
Being in the public eye, the 41-year-old explained it’s important that some things are just for her persoanl life and protecting the privacy of her family is something she sincerely cares about.
“Obviously, I am a mom and motherhood is the thing that Iâm most proud of and itâs my favorite topic in my personal life. If you were my friend and we went for coffee, you would be like ‘Oh my god. All she talks about are her kids,'” Fisher said.
In a world where parents’ social feeds are flooded with cute baby and kid photos, it’s hard to imagine never having the urge to share, but the actress doesn’t. However, that’s not to say that those closest to her don’t get access to her family.
“But I do have an open door policy and people come over all of the time. I do big Shabbat dinners. Everybody gets access to my family time once a week,” she said.
Isla promotes ‘Marge In Charge’ on The Today Show
Isla appeared on US morning show The Today Show yesterday to promote the release of ‘Marge In Charge’ in the US. Isla said she wants Betty White to play Marge in a movie of the book if one was ever made, and she talked about the response she’s had to Marge in the UK. She briefly mentioned her upcoming movie Tag, and there was an obligatory mention of her husband and his famous antics. Here’s the interview:
