Isla being considered for role in “”The Thin Man” re-make

Deadline reports that Isla is one of 8 actresses being considered for the lead role opposite Johnny Depp in a re-make of The Thin Man. The Thin Man centers around Nick Charles, a detective turned socialite, as he and his wife Nora are drawn into the investigation of a murder.

We’ll cross our fingers for role Isla, and keep you posted here on any further news on this!

Rob Marshall next week begins meetings to find who’ll play Nora in the Billy Ray-scripted Warner Bros remake of The Thin Man. Here are the named I’m hearing who are interested in cavorting with Johnny Depp, who’ll play the tipsy socialite-turned-sleuth Nick Charles: Eva Green, Amy Adams, Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan, Rachel Weisz, Kristen Wiig, Emily Blunt and Isla Fisher. This one should be fun!

“Wedding Crashers 2” in the works?

Whilst doing a little search for Isla on Twitter, I came across a link to the article posted below about a possible Wedding Crashers sequel. Both of the sources (the website and the “eye witness”) are highly suspicious and not what I’d call at all trustworthy, but it’s still interesting to read about the possibility of a sequel. If there IS any further news on this be sure we’ll keep you updated here as reliably as possible!

Isla Fisher hints at Wedding Crashers 2

It has been suggested that there could well be a follow up to the hit 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers after one of the movies stars, Isla Fisher was overheard talking about the possibility of a sequel. The movie would be a definite hit after the success of Wedding Crashers.
An eye witness explained, “I’m a massive fan of Isla Fisher and when I saw her I couldn’t help but “accidentally” overhear her conversation and she was saying something about being offered the chance to return for Wedding Crashers 2 but she didn’t go into details about it.”

Wedding Crashers, which also starred Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, made $283 million worldwide and a sequel would obviously be very profitable. However, the storyline would be a stumbling block as the main characters crash weddings to pick up girls but both men ended up with their dream girl at the end of the movie. If Wedding Crashers 2 does get the go ahead, do not expect to see it before 2015.

Isla to join “What To Expect When You’re Expecting”?

Isla is apparently in talks to star in the pregnancy comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting.

Vulture broke the news on Tuesday:

We’re also told by knowledgeable sources that Lionsgate has set Isla Fisher for a part that had been offered to Bridesmaids co-writer and star Kristen Wiig, who passed owing to her rigorous Saturday Night Live commitment this fall. The studio is also said to be in negotiations with The Office and Hangover II star Ed Helms to play one of the expectant fathers, and similarly, we’re told that Lionsgate has been eager to recruit another TV star in Matthew Morrison, but his incredibly tight schedule for Glee and his current tour in support of his solo album means it’s not likely he’ll be able to make his schedule work.

As you might expect, What to Expect follows six couples of varying ages and backgrounds in the run-up to delivery of their babies, in a manner very similar to New Line Cinema’s ensemble confections like He’s Just Not That Into You and Valentine’s Day. (Or, as one wag put it to Vulture, “We’ve been calling it He Was That Into You, So Much So That He Knocked You Up.”)

IndieWire.com posted more information yesterday, and also spoke to Ed Helms’ reps who said that he is not involved in this movie.

Based on the perennially popular advice book for the soon-to-be-parents, the film, penned by Shauna Cross and Heather Hach, will follow the template that’s proven so popular in the likes of “Valentine’s Day” and “He’s Just Not That Into You,” following half-a-dozen couples all preparing to bring new life into the world. Cameron Diaz has been set for the lead for a while now, and last night Jennifer Lopez looked to be getting in on the action as well. Now Vulture, who seemed to have the Lopez scoop before Deadline, also suggests that two names familiar from recent comic hits are joining the film as well.

As well as Lopez, the site suggests that Isla Fisher, who somehow hasn’t quite become the giant star she looked to be after “Wedding Crashers” (we can all blame “Confessions of a Shopaholic” for that one), is set for a supporting role, and that Ed Helms, who’s had a colossal hit with “The Hangover Part II,” is in talks to play one of the expectant fathers.

However, the studio and director Kirk Jones (”Nanny McPhee”) haven’t had their way with everyone: “Bridesmaids” star Kristen Wiig was the first choice for Fisher’s role, but the actress passed owing to her commitments to the next season of “Saturday Night Live”—which answers at least one of the questions we were asking last week, as to why Wiig hasn’t yet capitalized on the success of her giant smash hit. Similarly, and despite what Deadline reported yesterday, “Glee” star Matthew Morrison was being courted for a part, but supposedly his commitments to that show, and to the promotion of his solo album, look unlikely to make that work.

It’s a little fishy in both those cases, considering that Helms is tied to “The Office” for the next season as well, but still seems to be involved (and the actor managed to shoot “The Hangover Part II” while remaining involved in the show)—it seems likely that Wiig, at the very least, simply wasn’t keen. And we’re not surprised: playing comic relief to Cameron Diaz would have been a waste of her talents.

Filming begins in four weeks, and Lionsgate has already bagged the “Bridesmaids” slot next summer, with the film opening on May 11, 2012, so we’d expect to see the rest of the cast come together shortly.

Isla Fisher to Kiss & Tell

Really good news hit the trades! Isla is attached to yet another film which sounds again like it could showcase her loveable humor. I only hope this (or any) make it into production very soon – I’m so ready to see Ms. Fisher on screen again!

To reflect, Isla is also currently attached to star & produce Life Coach, Un Jour mes princes viendront (One Day My Princes Will Come), Desperadoes (a Hangover-esque comedy). And although we haven’t heard anything about it in a while she is supposedly still developing and producing comedy The Cookie Queen and lastly Groupies, another with no talk in some time. In 2011 we will hear her as a voice character in Rango and Isla is currently filming her role as Ginny in Burke and Hare. Big things for our lady love!

Isla Fisher is attached to star in Universal Pictures’ high concept romantic comedy Kiss & Tell, written by Dax Shelby and Robert Stevens.

Sheldon Turner is producing the film, about a woman who discovers she has the power to see exactly how a long-term relationship will unfold with a man after kissing him.

Turner, who recently adapted the video game “inFAMOUS” for Sony, will produce with Jennifer Klein.
