Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Lands Awards Season Release Date

Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Lands Awards Season Release Date

Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals will open in select theaters on Nov. 18, the heart of awards season.

The Focus Features release, starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal, tells the story of an art gallery owner who is haunted by her ex-husband’s novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale.

Nocturnal Animals will continue to expand midweek on Nov. 23, the beginning of the long Thanksgiving holiday, before rolling out nationwide on Dec. 9.

Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Ellie Bamber and Laura Linney also star in the specialty film, adapted from Austin Wright’s novel, Tony and Susan.

The Thanksgiving corridor is primetime when it comes to unveiling movies vying for awards attention, and Nocturnal Animals has no shortage of competition. Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea also begins its platform run on Nov. 18, while survival tale Lion opens in select theaters Nov. 23.

Nocturnal Animals marks Ford’s second feature directorial outing after A Single Man, starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore. Released in fall 2009 after making its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, the movie earned Firth an Oscar nomination for best actor as well as a Golden Globe nomination.

Twitter photo from “Marge In Charge” event

Whilst browsing Twitter I came across this photo from Emily Burns, who is Head of PR at a publishing company – it looks as if it was a very low-key event relating to Isla’s upcoming children’s book Marge In Charge. If anyone has any more information then please get in touch!

Lizzy Gardiner’s Story of the Fame Game – Very rare old interview with Isla

I came across this very old and rare clip of Isla in a documentary about fame and soaps, in which she talks about working on Home & Away – it’s a great blast from the past – enjoy!

Lizzy Gardiner’s Story of the Fame Game (1997)

Director and interviewer Lizzy Gardiner had her own taste of fame when she won the Best Costume Design Oscar for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Costume designer Lizzy Gardiner interviews the head of drama for the Seven Network, Jonathan Holmes, about the longevity of young soap stars. Gardiner also speaks to Isla Fisher about being a star of TV serials. Fisher says she has to have multiple personalities to speak to fans, press, producers and friends. We see Isla on set in the studio for the filming of Home and Away.

Isla Fisher pens children’s fiction series

Isla Fisher pens children’s fiction series

Piccadilly Press has acquired world rights, excluding North America, to a children’s fiction series by actress Isla Fisher.

The series, Marge in Charge, is about an eccentric babysitter called Marge, who, when looking after two children called Jemima and Jake, breaks all the rules by feeding her charges chocolate soup and playing dress-up in their mum’s closet. By the end, it’s Jemima and Jake who have to put the babysitter to bed, not the other way round.

Piccadilly Press founder Brenda Gardner acquired the rights to three books before she retired last year from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown. The series will be edited by Matilda Johnson and illustrated by Eglantine Ceulemans, and each book will be divided into three stories.

Fisher, who has starred in films such as The Great Gatsby and Wedding Crashers, said: “I’m so delighted that Piccadilly Press will bring Marge in Charge to life – now that I have children of my own I see the joy and magic in their everyday lives and books are a crucial part of this. I hope together we can introduce Marge to as many family bedtimes as possible.”

Johnson added: “We’re all incredibly excited to have Isla on the list – she is one of those rare people who has a natural gift for really making people laugh. Eglantine’s illustrations are perfect for these lively stories and endearing characters.”

Book one is due for publication this July.

Piccadilly Press is an imprint of Bonnier Publishing.
