More of “Bachelorette” from Sundance, including reviews

The premiere for Bachelorette was held on Monday at the Sundance Film Festival, but I cannot find any pictures or mention of Isla being there! I don’t know why … has anyone heard anything? Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, James Marsden and all the rest of the cast plus the director were in attendance, and apparently the screening was completely sold out, which is good! Reviews for the film have started to come in since the screening, and it’s good/mixed so far. Further down this post are some of those reviews, plus a few links to videos of the other cast at the premiere.

And don’t forget to check out the previous few posts for some fantastic and funny new interviews from Sundance.

Sundance: Kirsten Dunst and the ‘Bachelorette’ cast talk man boobs and female friendships

Premiering tonight (Jan 23rd) at the Sundance Film Festival, Bachelorette may sound like a combo of Bridesmaids and a certain ABC reality TV show, but after talking with the film’s cast — including Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, and Lizzy Caplan — as well as writer-director Leslye Headland, it’s clear the film is its own unique animal. Along with a discussion of how these female friends, who get together for a wild, drug-fueled pre-wedding party, use their powers for evil, we also learn about Dunst’s unusual choice for a sushi restaurant, and how the male characters were, essentially, “sex objects.” Check out our interview below:

Isla at the Sundance Film Festival – T-Mobile Google Music Village & 2 Portrait Sessions

Isla is now in Park City, Utah to promote Bachelorette at the Sundance Film Festival, and yesterday she popped into the T-Mobile Google Music Village and a couple of photo studios. Isla was snapped with her co-star and fellow Aussie Rebel Wilson at the Music Village, and their other co-stars, including Kirsten Dunst and James Marsden, joined them for the two portrait sessions.

There will be a premiere for Bachelorette in the next few days, so we will definitely be seeing more of Miss Fisher and her co-stars at Sundance soon!

And continuing the Bachelorette love, I’ve replaced the first two stills from the movie with HQ versions.

Leslye Headland talks to the NY Times about “Bachelorette”

Bachelorette writer-director Leslye Headland has spoken to the New York Times about her new movie, and gives us a bit of insight into the characters. Read the full but brief interview at the link above.

“My movie is nasty, dark, complicated and a little bizarre. If people come in expecting ‘Bridesmaids’ they may have a heart attack. Or they might hate it and leave.” (We’ve seen it. Won’t happen.)

“I wanted to explore the idea of people who are good no matter how hard they work at being bad,” she said. “At the same time, I wanted a feeling of suspense at the end. Will these women turn out to be fine? Not clear. Hopefully, people will leave worried about them, but in a hopeful way.”

“Bachelorette” Sundance screening info & synopsis

As we posted about before, Bachelorette will be premiereing at the Sundance Film Festival this month. The official Sundance website has now posted a full synopsis for the movie and 4 screening dates, which you can find here. One of those 4 dates will be the world premiere red carpet event, so if we’re lucky Isla will be in attendance! We’ll be sure to bring you coverage of the film festival next week … I’m sure you’re all as excited as I am to be hearing more about this movie!

Regan is used to being first at everything. Imagine her horror and chagrin when she finds out the girl everyone called Pig Face in high school is going to tie the knot before she does! But Regan sucks it up and takes on bridesmaid duties along with her childhood pals: substance-abusing, promiscuous Gena and ditzy Katie. The single ladies are determined to put their bitterness aside and have an awesomely hedonistic bachelorette party. Armed with acerbic wit and seemingly endless supplies of coke and booze, the foul-mouthed femmes embark on one very long and emotional night filled with major wedding-dress panic, various bodily fluids, and cute ex-boyfriends.

Kirsten Dunst is consistently funny leading the talented cast, which includes the delightful scene stealer, Rebel Wilson, who plays Becky, a.k.a. Pig Face. Adding to the tradition of successful bridal comedies, this debut feature by writer/director Leslye Headland is a sassy and sometimes romantic ride that never forgets to celebrate the complexities of female friendship.

Not only do we have that exciting news, but we also have the first 3 stills from the movie! Two of the 3 feature the bridesmaids, and the 3rd shows our groom and his friends. Check out the 2 stills featuring Miss Isla in our Gallery, and head on over to HitFix.com to the see the 3rd still.

The official synopsis for the movie is as follows:

Unresolved issues between four high school friends come roaring back to life when the least popular of them gets engaged to one of the most eligible bachelors in New York City and asks the others to be bridesmaids in her wedding.
