Fresh from her recent Trailblazer honour at the AACTA Awards, Isla attended the AACTA International Awards in Los Angeles on Friday. This international version of the AACTAs is their opportunity to celebrate the best non-Australian films of the year. Isla attended with her husband, and presented the award for Best Actress to fellow red-head Emma Stone for La La Land. Emma snuck on behind Isla on stage to accept the award, and the two shouted ‘surprise’ at each other simultaneously; Isla said afterwards, “I was completed surprised, but why I said ‘surprise’ was because everyone was coming out of their seats from the audience, and Emma just came out from behind me … I really enjoyed it.” Isla was also snapped with her Aussie friend Nicole Kidman backstage. Isla looked gorgeous in a floor-length flowing yellow gown by Monique Lhuillier with jewellery by Tasaki – I love this look on her, she pulls it off perfectly! We have over 100 gorgeous HQ photos in our Gallery for you, and scroll on down this post for a couple of articles/interviews from the night…

Isla Fisher Says She’s Not Working with a Stylist: ‘Sometimes You Just Pull a Dress’

Isla Fisher is “going rogue” without a stylist these days.

During a night out at the 6th Annual AACTA International Awards at the Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood, California, on Friday night, Fisher revealed to reporters that her bright yellow Monique Lhuillier gown on Friday night was all her idea.

“I’m not working with a stylist right now. So I chose it myself,” she told PEOPLE.

“I think stylists are wonderful,” she continued. “When things come up at the last minute and you’re in a rush, sometimes you just pull a dress. I’ve got a lot of responsibilities, and my career is just a part of a whole big puzzle.”

And Fisher says there are definitely pros and cons to what she calls “going rogue” on the red carpet.

“My stylists in the past have been wonderful and reminded me whether or not to cross your legs, whether to put a hand on your hip,” she said. “But of course, whatever great advice you get, to hoist your dress up, or to maneuver your lady parts into them, more prominent position.

“But whatever you’re told, obviously in the moments pre-the ceremony, when you get out of the car and there’s a line of photographers shouting your name, you just tend to go rogue and do absolutely anything and then look back and regret it.”

As for her daughters’ thoughts on her selection?

“I think the quote was, ‘Mommy you look like a banana tonight.’ I mean, I’ll take anything.”

Fisher isn’t the only celebrity picking out her own looks. Blake Lively also famously does not need help styling herself.

“I’ve always loved fashion,’ she told the UK edition of Marie Claire in its October 2010 issue. “That’s why I don’t use a stylist. Number one, it’s such an expression of self.”

Sacha Baron Cohen helps Isla Fisher with red carpet choices

In an interview with HELLO! Online, Isla Fisher opened up about her favourite thing about awards season – the fashion!

The Confessions of a Shopaholic actress spoke about how much she enjoyed choosing what to wear for the red carpet events, and why she thinks the Golden Globes are the best ceremony to dress for. “It’s going to be awfully superficial but I do enjoy the fashion,” she said when asked her favourite thing about awards season. “All the beautiful girls dressed up. Hollywood has in some ways become so corporate and you feel like people’s own identities don’t come out on the red carpet but I think at something like the Golden Globes you get to see the fun fashion.”

The star, who was attending the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts International Awards, revealed how important the evening was to her. “I’m so excited as an Australian,” she admitted. “So many Australian actors are fortunate enough to be given BAFTA or Oscars and this is an opportunity for us in the Australian industry to give back and celebrate.”

When asked if her husband, Borat star Sacha ever had her say in her outfits, Isla joked: “I always ask. I kind of poll everybody that are unfortunately near me what they think.” The mother-of-three has previously spoken about her relationship with the British star, telling the Sunday Telegraph: “Choosing to be together every day is incredibly romantic. I love marriage. I think it’s a wonderful institution and it’s the most important decision you make. Life is filled with highs and lows, and you have a best friend to share it with you. It’s amazing. It’s like winning the lottery, having a good partner.”
