Isla at the “Grimsby” Los Angeles Premiere

Isla attended the Los Angeles premiere of Grimsby a couple of days ago, and posed alongside Sacha who attended in character. Isla wore a leather mini-dress by David Koma, with shoes by Louboutin and jewellry from Anita Ko, her hair was styled (and cut shorter!) by Adir Aberge, and make-up by Sabrina Bedrani. Check out photos from the event in our Gallery, and further down this post are videos, articles and info about Isla’s new haircut…

Isla Fisher Chopped Off Her Hair! Get All the Scoop on Her 10-Inch Cut

We’ve long envied Isla Fisher for her gorgeous, fiery long locks, but now, we’re wishing we had her hair for another reason: she’s gone short (and it’s so chic)! The actress hit The Brothers Grimsby red carpet Thursday night with a major haircut, and we’ve got all of the details on the chop from her longtime hairstylist, Adir Abergel.

For many ladies, the decision to lop 10 inches off their locks requires months of consideration. For Fisher, it was a split decision.

“We did it last minute before she went on the red carpet, about 40 minutes before she left,” Abergel tells PeopleStyle. “It was my idea. I came in and she was like, ‘What do you want to do this time?’ And I said, ‘Let’s do it — let’s chop it off!” The final product? A “new, modern length,” which Abergel described as “a longer version of the lob we’ve been seeing.”

The actress’ “fresh and young” cut has “a really great weight line that goes toward the front with a beautiful bounce,” hitting below the nape of her neck in back and getting slightly longer toward her face.

If Fisher decides she wants to get scissor-happy in the future, Abergel would steer her away from the popular “lob” and take her all the way up to a short cut. “Isla has such gorgeous hair — this length feels very sensitive to go a lot shorter,” he tells PeopleStyle. “You either have to go super-short with a chin-length bob or keep it long. I think when you go in between, it can go a little mumsy.”

And don’t think just because the actress made the chop her gorgeous red shade is going away any time soon either. Fisher’s colorist Tracey Cunningham, who’s been working with the actress for about five years, says it doesn’t take much to perfect the star’s signature fiery color.

“Her virgin hair is so similar to how I color her,” Cunningham tells PeopleStyle. “She has the most gorgeous crown of auburn hair. I use a Redken Shades EQ gloss just to enhance her natural red, give it a pop. I see her every two months or on occasions when she is working. She doesn’t need a lot of work — she just looks that good!”

But for the moment, he’s loving the length (and color!) on his client, especially when styled with a relaxed texture, as he did Thursday night. “I really like putting a soft wave into Isla’s hair by using a 1- to 1.25-in. curling iron and wrapping hair around the outside of the iron, leaving ends out and tugging when it’s still hot.” (Pro tip: By “tugging” at the still-hot pieces of hair, Abergel says, it stretches out the curl, giving it that desired soft wave; you can’t “relax the curl” once it cools.)
