Isla Fisher on ‘Arrested Development’: ‘I love all the Bluths’ – video

Isla Fisher has described winning a role in the Arrested Development revival as a career highlight.

The Rise of the Guardians star, who has signed up for an unspecified role in the Netflix series, told Digital Spy that she welcomed the challenge of working on a fast-paced comedy series.

“I’ve been really fortunate in my career to work with a lot of great people and get a lot of great gigs, but my favourite phone call ever was the Arrested Development one from my agent,” she said. “It was very exciting.”

Discussing the experience of working on the series, Fisher said: “I can’t tell you anything about who I’m playing, but I will say that I had a really fun time shooting that.

“It was fly by the seat of your pants, they give you a script when you arrive on set, and they change the words the whole time.

“You don’t really know whether you’re coming or going, so it’s a good exercise as an actor of letting go of control and just surrendering to the moment.”

Fisher added of her favourite Bluth family member: “I like George-Michael and Michael. I like Buster, too – I love them all!”

Arrested Development, which starred Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett and Portia de Rossi, originally ran for three seasons on Fox before its cancellation in 2006.

The show centred on the wealthy Bluths, and son Michael (Bateman) trying to hold the family together in their father’s absence.
